DC Live! Bastion Livestream, Part 1

Bastion-11072021

Tonight I return to Bastion, a game I played 90% of in 2011 and 2012 and never bothered finishing. Considering the majority of last week’s Twitch chat regulars didn’t enjoy Bleach: Soul Resurrección and Grimm’s Hollow doesn’t play well with OBS, it was time to move on to another game on the streaming schedule. I had actually tried to play Metroid 3 Prime: Corruption, but the game won’t work on the Wii without a nunchunk and I don’t own one. On another hilariously unfortunate note, the flash memory in my Wii U is corrupted. I’m not sure how it happened since we haven’t turned it on since 2018. In short, the stars seemed to align for a Bastion stream. It’s also fitting since I’ve had the pleasure of streaming Pyre, Hades, and Transistor for this blog.

Bastion is Supergiant Games’ first title. It was released on Xbox Live Arcade in July 2011 and would later be ported to PC via Steam. I actually learned about this game through the now defunct podcast, Active Time Babble and through still active shows like RPG Cast and The Game Informer Show. The game itself received positive press and catapulted Supergiant Games to indie developer fame in the decade since its inception. The story behind the developer’s founding is an interesting read and it’s hard to believe it’s already been a little over ten years.

The game’s plot is straightforward. A catastrophe ruined the city of Caelondia and very few people survived. A boy simply known as “the Kid” sets out to find the Bastion which serves as a refuge in troubled times.

Join me at 8PM Eastern, 7PM Central on our Twitch Channel as I set out to find the Bastion and finish Supergiant’s first ever game.

As always, a recording of the stream will be archived on our YouTube channel and embedded below.
