Naughty and Nice ’22: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
This is Damage Control blog wishing all of you out there a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, a post that’s now officially part of the Naughty and Nice Series.
It’s that time of the year yet again, a jovial time for many of us — or the day that should be one. There’s no sugarcoating that it’s been yet another tough year, one in which plenty of people who wanted to celebrate Christmas in style couldn’t thanks to the rising costs of basic necessities and rent driven by inflation and greed. If that largely-national problem didn’t get you down, there’s also the small issue that it’s goddamned cold out this year, the coldest Christmas season in decades for some of us. If you have the opportunity to stay warm, relax, and perhaps eat, remember how lucky you really are, despite how difficult it can be to think about that.
The track this year is “A Dream in Flight,” a special track from the Chocobo’s Dungeon: Original Soundtrack release composed by Masashi Hamauzu, keeping the Final Fantasy theme this year to commemorate the franchise’s 35th anniversary. It fulfills its duties as not only being a great track to hear on this day and one that I haven’t used in previous years, but one linked to from the new Square Enix Music YouTube channel. A number of tracks I’ve used in previous years have been deleted due to copyright claims filed by Square Enix themselves, but this one thankfully won’t be. They’re not foolish enough to file a copyright claim against one from a playlist of their creation, right? Sure.
Merry Christmas, or happy holidays for the other occasion(s) you celebrate around this time of year. Even if you don’t celebrate anything, take the day to relax. You’ve earned it. You deserve it.
