Check Out the New Ways to Support Us on Ko-Fi

EditorsDesk

As of yesterday, we’ve increased our Ko-Fi offerings. Instead of just a simple tip jar, we’ve opened up two tiers where you can commission content directly from us. We just had a successful commission where a kind supporter paid for a copy of Street Fighter VI for Geoff and requested a review. It was a fairly enjoyable process that lined up with our plans to offer paid content. We settled on commissions, as we don’t want to put articles or video behind a paywall.

On our Reporter Tier you can suggest a movie for us to watch. We’ll discuss it in the form of either a video or audio podcast. We settled on a movie because they are short enough for all of us to get through and to talk about within a month’s time.

For our Editor Tier you can request a topic for us to write about, reviews included. The article would be a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 2000 words. We reserve the right to turn down request that would be unfeasible for us to complete within a month. For example, a long video game or a long-running TV series. Commissioning us for a review or a topic does not guarantee positive coverage as we maintain editorial control over what we write.

Both of these new tiers on Ko-Fi are limited to two slots. Writing, livestreaming, and creating video for Damage Control is a side job. It comes on top of the full-time jobs and responsibilities we already have. So slots have to be limited. We don’t want to take on more work than we can realistically complete within a month.

We’re also allowing people to drop out of tiers. Remaining on a tier for a set period of time isn’t a requirement to make a commission request– though you are certainly welcome to stay on one or both of our limited tiers. The upside is that you don’t have to stay on a tier every single month to put in a request. The downside is that if the slots are taken, that’s it for requests until someone opts to drop out.

As bonuses, we’ll include shout-outs on social media for your pledge. We’ll also give you access to our notes, and we’ll include your name (if you want), as a sponsor of said video, audio, or article.

Our articles and video on Damage Control will always be independent and ad-free. Supporting us helps with server hosting costs, equipment, and commissioning others for their work. This also includes bringing you information and editorial that you want to see.

Thanks again for all of your support!
