DC Live! Death and Taxes, Part 1 Livestream
This week we start the livestream cycle anew with Death and Taxes. To be honest, I’ve been stuck on Final Fantasy VIII for so long that it feels weird to stream something else (not counting Monster Hunter Rise), but I’m free. This new game was a suggestion and it looked short enough to try out.
Death and Taxes was released on February 20, 2020 or (02/02/2020). It was developed by the relatively small team of eight at Placeholder Gameworks. Some members of the team have worked on titles such as Fable and Disco Elysium. This particular game is a narrative-driven point and click adventure in a vein similar to Papers, Please. I’ve actually never played Papers, Please, but it was held in high esteem among many gamers.
In Death and Taxes you play the role of the Grim Reaper. The excitement of playing as an agent of death is tampered by having to reap lives via an office job. It will be our choice to determine who lives and who dies. The developers also promise greater consequences such as the fate of the world. How such a leap is possible certainly has my attention. This title also sports multiple endings, so it will be fun to see which one we obtain.
Death and Taxes also allows for audience participation in certain segments. So be sure to keep and eye on the !die or !spare commands if you’d like to take a vote.
