DC Live! Monster Hunter Stories 2 Livestream, First Impressions
Happy Caturday everyone! You’ve probably noticed by now that I’m not Drew and this is not a streaming announcement for part 4 of Final Fantasy V: Four Job Fiesta. He’s unable to stream tonight or for the remainder of this weekend. Instead I’ll be doing double duty by streaming tonight and tomorrow.
I want to keep my streaming schedule the same, so we’re going to do a one-off tonight. I just picked my copy of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Naturally, I couldn’t resist streaming some first impressions for this brand new game. Plus, there hasn’t been any Monster Hunter content on Twitch or YouTube for a while. I can fix this issue tonight.
Wings of Ruin is a sequel to the 2016 release of Monster Hunter Stories on 3DS. This series is a spin-off of the Monster Hunter franchise. Unlike the action-based combat of the main series, Stories is a turn-based RPG. It’s not unlike Pokémon where there’s a battle triangle using the rock-paper-scissors style of combat—ie, one type of attack is stronger than other while being weak to a different type. Also, monsters themselves fight off against other monsters in combat. Playing the original Stories isn’t a requirement for Wings of Ruin, as it follows the grandson of Red, the protagonist from the first game.
I own the original Monster Hunter Stories, but I haven’t played it and I’ll be going in completely blind to this sequel. Will I do well or will I stumble out of the gate? Find out as we take a first look at this game.
Join me at 8PM Eastern, 7PM Central on our Twitch Channel we dig into the world of Monster Hunter Stories 2.
As always, a recording of the stream will be archived on our YouTube channel and embedded below.
