DC Live! Rock of Ages and Dust: An Elysian Tail Double Feature Stream

My first article on Damage Control in a while isn’t what I thought it would be. I was certain my write-up of Otakon 2019 would be first, or even how I built a new computer. (The latter is ironic– just as my new computer comes online, Drew finds himself needing a new build.) Nope. None of those editorial ideas worked out. Today’s blog entry is a Twitch livestream announcement.

In the United States today is Labor Day. I have the day off from work, so what better way to celebrate than to spend a few hours streaming?

I’m doing things a bit differently today because I will be streaming two games.

 

First up is Rock of Ages at 3PM. This odd little game is in no way related to the 2012 movie. This Rock of Ages was developed by ACE Team in 2011 and published by Atlus USA. It’s a fun mix of genres, namely tower defense and racing with a boulder that very much reminds me of 1984’s Marble Madness. I’ll primarily be playing through story mode as the Greek mythological figure, Sisyphus, upends his punishment and rampages through time by rolling the very boulder that was meant to serve as his eternal punishment.

 

Then at 5PM is a livestream of Dust: An Elysian Tail. Dust is an action RPG developed and programmed by Dean Dodrill. It was released in 2012 and was originally exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade. Years later, Dust would be ported to Windows, PS4, iOS, and as of last year the Switch. There are plenty of Metroidvania elements to be found along with hack and slash action that harkens back to Muramasa: The Demon Blade. In this game the titular character Dust is an amnesiac anthropomorphic canine that is in possession of the Blade of Ahrah. He’s joined by a Fidget, a small flying fox-bat. Adventures will probably ensue as Dust sets out to find answers.
