The outcome I feared would happen is upon me, even with a worse-than-usual turnout.

With two-thirds of the previous average votes, I am now doomed to finally swallow what I bit off and was unable to chew some years ago: 100% completion of Dragon Quest IX.

Though you voters previously have failed to stick me with Xenoblade Chronicles or Persona 3:FES, your latent desire to have me play the same game for hundreds of hours has finally come to fruition.

While I had long wanted to conquer this massive game (because it was there), I realised that sinking more than 580 hours (or so) into it was preventing me from playing other games. So I set aside this game and my other 100% pet project, the original Final Fantasy: Dissidia, and moved on, tackling scores of new experiences in the couple of years since.

But now is the time to return to that challenge and meet it head-on until the game is crushed beneath my feet. All it takes is time (and, in the case of alcamiricles or finding a dungeon map with a metal slime-only floor) a lot of luck to reduce that time.

To writ: I will consider my trip finished not when I have all possible accolades (without a Platinum King Jewel-only dungeon level map, the ones requiring me to reach to level 100 in each class 10 times would take forever… not to mention spending 1,000 hours in multiplayer or street passing 1,000 people!) or have cranked up all the optional bosses to maximum level. I will consider my work sufficiently done when the games four counters (bestiary, wardrobe, item list and alchemy recipes) all read 100%.

To put that in perspective, here is where things stand now:

And oh, yeah, I get to polish my skills and put the more difficult remake of DuckTales to rest. That’ll take no time at all in comparison.
